    Abstract

    Background: Ceftriaxone is the most common and widely used third generation cephalosporin empirically. Extensive use of ceftriaxone makes its highly prone to misutilization with increasing reports of microbial resistance globally, which sometimes linked to production of beta-lactamase. Combination therapy of ceftriaxone with sulbactam, a beta-lactamase inhibitor preserves its antibacterial activity. Periodic local antimicrobial surveillance of antibiotics is necessary to enhance their rational prescribing.
